The story starts with two children whose names are Tommy and Margie. It takes place in the futuristic world where computers influence everything. Apart from this, it shows how the schools and classes have totally changed. In the year 2157, where Margie is writing in her diary about Tommy that how he found a book. This book was of Tommy's grandfather when he was a child. Here Margie acquired knowledge of how they used to print all the stories on paper, they read the books and gained knowledge and how turning the pages was ridiculous. It was funny for them because they were not used to reading static words, they have only habit of reading moving words on a screen, we learn that there will be no books in the future but only telebooks, they will store them in computer and TV. It takes an interesting turn when they discuss about the school. Margie learns that in the past schools were very different. They had real people who were teachers. Margie was surprised because she has only robots to teach them. She has many reasons to hate the school. There are no classmates in the school where she used to study. It doesn't have a playground to play, Tommy and Margie takes classes in a room. They have robots who teach them. The most important thing is that her school is just next to her bedroom. It is a room which is full of robots and gadgets. Computer teaches her everything. When Margie goes to school after learning about the first one she always starts thinking. When she starts reading, she can't help but think of the old days. Margie always thinks about the fun that her grandfather had in his childhood. She visualizes that children come from the neighbourhood to attend school together. In fact, they were taught the same thing which they enjoyed a lot. कहानी दो बच्चों से शुरू होती है जिनके नाम टॉमी और मार्गी हैं। यह भविष्य की दुनिया में घटित होता है जहाँ कंप्यूटर हर चीज़ को प्रभावित करते हैं। इसके अलावा, यह दर्शाता है कि स्कूल और कक्षाएं कैसे पूरी तरह से बदल गई हैं। साल 2157 में जहां मार्गी अपनी डायरी में टॉमी के बारे में लिख रही है कि कैसे उसे एक किताब मिली. यह किताब टॉमी के दादा की थी जब वह बच्चा था। यहां मार्गी को यह ज्ञान प्राप्त हुआ कि वे किस प्रकार सभी कहानियों को कागज पर छापते थे, वे पुस्तकें पढ़ते थे और ज्ञान प्राप्त करते थे तथा पन्ने पलटना किस प्रकार हास्यास्पद था। यह उनके लिए मज़ेदार था क्योंकि उन्हें स्थिर शब्दों को पढ़ने की आदत नहीं थी, उन्हें केवल स्क्रीन पर चलते शब्दों को पढ़ने की आदत थी, हमें पता चला कि भविष्य में कोई किताबें नहीं होंगी बल्कि केवल टेलीबुक होंगी, वे उन्हें कंप्यूटर और टीवी में संग्रहीत करेंगे . जब वे स्कूल के बारे में चर्चा करते हैं तो यह एक दिलचस्प मोड़ लेता है। मार्गी को पता चलता है कि अतीत में स्कूल बहुत अलग थे। उनके पास वास्तविक लोग थे जो शिक्षक थे। मार्गी आश्चर्यचकित थी क्योंकि उसके पास उन्हें सिखाने के लिए केवल रोबोट थे। उसके पास स्कूल से नफरत करने के कई कारण हैं। जिस स्कूल में वह पढ़ती थी वहां कोई सहपाठी नहीं है। इसमें खेलने के लिए कोई खेल का मैदान नहीं है, टॉमी और मार्गी एक कमरे में कक्षाएं लेते हैं। उनके पास रोबोट हैं जो उन्हें सिखाते हैं। सबसे खास बात ये है कि उनका स्कूल उनके बेडरूम के ठीक बगल में है. यह एक कमरा है जो रोबोट और गैजेट्स से भरा हुआ है। कंप्यूटर उसे सब कुछ सिखा देता है. पहली बार के बारे में जानने के बाद जब मार्गी स्कूल जाती है तो वह हमेशा सोचने लगती है। जब वह पढ़ना शुरू करती है, तो पुराने दिनों के बारे में सोचने से खुद को नहीं रोक पाती। मार्गी हमेशा उस मौज-मस्ती के बारे में सोचती है जो उसके दादाजी ने बचपन में की थी। वह कल्पना करती है कि पड़ोस से बच्चे एक साथ स्कूल जाने के लिए आते हैं। दरअसल, उन्हें वही सिखाया गया जिसका उन्हें भरपूर आनंद आया. दरअसल हर कोई एक-दूसरे के होमवर्क में मदद करता है। अंत में वह उनके द्वारा की गई मौज-मस्ती के बारे में सोच कर रह जाती है।
